This facility is capable of applying tensile loads up to 8 million pound (4000 tons). It is intended for use in the structural testing of large specimens in a horizontal orientation. Its full stroke of 48 inches at maximum load allows almost 25 percent elongation at failure on test articles up to 200 inches in length, or for even greater elongation for shorter test articles. Examples of items tested at this facility have included the largest shackle and swivel now being manufactured. Accesory fixtures would allow up to 20 tons of force in the verticle axis. This feature provides graphic (X/Y) representation of the torque curve for any swivel or swivel arrangement. Custom instrumentation readily available. |
